THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) - Latest news about a shootout in a Southern California bar (local time):

Sgt. Eric Buschow, Sheriff's sheriff of Ventura County, said the shooter had died at a bar in Southern California where 11 people were injured Wednesday night.

Authorities say an officer who responded was shot and taken to a hospital. No other information on the victims was immediately known.

The captain of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, Garo Kuredjian, said the first reports of gunshots occurred around 11:20. at Borderline Bar & Grill at Thousand Oaks, which is located about 40 miles west of Los Angeles.

The bar's website tells its guests "College Country Night" every Wednesday. Police said that hundreds of people were inside when the shooting took place.

The sheriff's spokesman said the first shots were fired at around 11:20 pm at Borderline Bar & Grill at Thousand Oaks, which is located about 40 miles west of Los Angeles. He added that officers who responded could hear gunshots as soon as they arrived at the scene.

Authorities still treat it as an active shooter scene.
